Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Eddie platform operated by Eddie AI ("Eddie," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility and Account Access

Eddie is a professional tool intended for use by teachers and school administrators. By creating an account you represent that you are at least 18 years old and are accessing the platform in a professional educational capacity.

Student access is provided only through a school-administered account and only after the applicable school has signed a written agreement with Eddie AI. Schools are responsible for ensuring students access the platform in accordance with school policy and applicable law (FERPA, COPPA, SOPPA).

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

2. Permitted Use

You may use Eddie to:

• Seek evidence-based teaching strategies and instructional support
• Search and explore educational standards (CCSS and similar)
• Upload and query documents related to your professional practice
• Generate lesson-related documents (lesson plans, rubrics, etc.)

You agree not to:

• Upload or submit student-identifiable information (names, student IDs, dates of birth, etc.)
• Use the platform for any purpose unrelated to education or instructional practice
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other security controls
• Use the platform to generate content that is harmful, illegal, or violates any school's acceptable-use policy
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or reproduce the platform or its outputs at scale

3. AI-Generated Content

Eddie's responses are generated by AI and are provided for informational and professional support purposes only. They do not constitute legal, medical, or psychological advice. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions.

You are responsible for reviewing and exercising professional judgment over any content generated by Eddie before using it with students or in official school communications.

4. Privacy and Data

Your use of the platform is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. If you are accessing Eddie on behalf of a school, the terms of the applicable school agreement (IL-NDPA / Exhibit G) also apply and govern in the event of any conflict.

5. Intellectual Property

Eddie AI retains all rights to the platform, its underlying software, and its training and infrastructure. Content you submit (chat messages, uploaded documents) remains yours. You grant Eddie AI a limited license to process your content solely to deliver the service as described in the Privacy Policy.

AI-generated responses are provided to you for your professional use. We make no claim of copyright over responses generated in direct reply to your queries.

6. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EDDIE AI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IN NO EVENT SHALL EDDIE AI BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if required by law. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable school agreement.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after revisions take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For school accounts, material changes will be communicated to the school contact on file at least 30 days in advance.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.
